Hi everyone,
We changed our minds about going to Riverside or Bakersfield. We are now in Santa Ana, CA and will be staying here tomorrow as well. Guess what Mom – we are just down from the John Wayne Airport! We might swing by the airport so I can get that picture of the John Wayne statue. 😉
We are currently in a Motel 6. The drive went well today and we were on the road at 7am this morning. Mike and I are both tired but still happy to have finally found the sun!
Just another short post, I might have something more to say tomorrow… 🙂
Okay, it’s not sunny and warm right now – it is 6:55pm right now after all.
We are now in Watsonville, CA, just outside of Santa Cruz. I think we are headed to Riverside, CA or Bakersfield, CA tomorrow…
The drive today seemed a little long but it was only about 6 hours. I am quite tired though… Guess I’m a wuss! Belle is becoming quite the traveller and Mike and I have to fight with her to keep her in the room now! The summer out at Mom’s was definitely good for her!
Just a short post tonight for me as I am quite tired. I will get better at this I’m sure.
PS. Thanks for the slippers Mom! They are definitely coming in handy for these motel rooms! 😉
We are now in Yreka, CA. The motel was very easy to find – right off the I-5. Would you believe there are 2 mexican restaurants here! We chose the Puerto Vallarta and it was GREAT!! Great food, great atmosphere and it was Sunday so a free shot of Tequila! All good!
I’m not sure yet where we are headed tomorrow, but I will keep you posted. We might decide to head for the coast instead of sticking to the I-5 down to Riverside (just outside of San Diego).
Belle is turning into quite the traveller. I am quite sure the summer at Mom’s was very good her. I actually had to fight with her about going outside here in the motel in Yreka! (She won the fight…)
The drive through Oregon today was basically uneventful. I am a little horrified over the number of dead deer we came across on the highway though. We also had to stop when we entered California, basically the same check as crossing the Canada/US border. Very interesting!
I am a little tired tonight (I know, it’s only 5pm) but what can I say, I’m with the early bird crew now. 😉
Hi and love to everyone.
Review of the Super 8 in Langley/Aldergrove off the 264th exit…
Large room, friendly staff and very clean. It was also quite quiet. Belle also seemed to like it. We stayed for 3 nights and left Belle in the room all day Thursday and Friday night. The hotel is pet friendly, although I think most people travel with dogs instead of cats. I’m beginning to see why, cats need alot of luggage!
Mike says the hotel was ‘Pretty Good’. I think we will have to come up with our own rating system.
That’s about all I have to say…
Hi everyone,
We are now in Portland, Oregon. We are staying in the Super 8 just off the airport in Portland. Besides a numb butt, everything is good and we are now relaxing in the room. The traffic was quite heavy and so was the rain! It is also quite cold. (I might be a wuss, but it’s still cold!) We are both wondering when we will reach nicer weather.
Tomorrow we are off to Yreka, California. I think those are banjos I hear in the distance. 😉 (I sure hope not.)
Belle seemed to enjoy our stay in the Langley/Aldergrove Super 8. Read my review here. Right now she is under the bed, although she has used the litter box and has eaten something. I’m hoping it won’t be a struggle to get her into her carrying case tomorrow…
I had more to say before I starting writing but now it has flown right out of my head. I will post more tomorrow. I hope everyone is well! Feel free to post a comment if you feel like it!
That’s all for now.
Diana
My name is Mike and this is my blog, and today I will start blogging.
I am married to Diana and we presently live in the BC interior with family as we prepare for our lifestyle changing getaway.
I worked at the Salmon Arm golf course as a cook this summer but the summer came to an end and so did the job but the golf was excellent, I played more golf this summer than any other golf season so far in my short golf career.
This blog will follow our search for a sailboat to buy and liveabord for the next several years while we sail around the Pacific.
We are preparing for our getaway now, and will be starting our trip soon. This getaway will start with a trip “by car” to southern California to look at used sailboats.
