Hi everyone, I hope your summer is going well ?
Well since about January it has been getting hotter, when we were on the mainland at Mazatlan, it really started to get hot. When we sailed to La Paz which was supposed to be hotter, we found a big difference but not just more heat. In Mazatlan(we left La Cruz before the real heat started)it was 26c overnight to 32c, not much difference overnight, and the heat started at 0800 in the morning and did not end until sundown, In La Paz the temp starts at about 18c overnight and during the day it climbs to a high of about 35c around 5:00 in the afternoon, it is warm either way. We are going thru this summer no air conditioning, but a lot of people have AC on their boats.
We sailed here two weeks ago from Mazatlan because of insurance(we have to be above Lat 24 for hurricane season)it is a nice place smaller than either Mazatlan or Peurto Vallarta. Presently we are renewing our FM3 Immigration Visas, they should be ready next week and then we are off to explore The Sea Of Cortez.
We will post pictures and more updates soon
Here are all of the locations we have talked about since we started our voyages.

We are back in Mazatlan after a couple months at the La Cruz Marina and two weeks out at the La Cruz Anchorage. We took a slow trip back to Mazatlan with over night stops at anchor at Guayabitos, Isla Isabellla and Stone Island. When we got to Mazatlan Diana made her regular trip back to Vancouver,at this time we both updated our passports and had the bottom painted on the boat, it took longer and cost more than expected. So after three weeks here it is time to move on to La Paz, we were supposed to be in La Paz before the start of June for Hurricane season, and insurance, we will be a little late.
Defiant has preformed flawlessly during our current travels. The solar panels installed in Ensenada have really started to pay off, we have not had to plug into shore power since leaving La Cruz marina and we are able to run the fridge,24/7, the computer all day for Diana and movies at night. It is now a challange to see how long we can go without plugging in.
It was fun to have Brad and Jan come to visit us at La Cruz, I hope they enjoyed their trip to Mexico.
The Tsunami surge just finished in the Bay about 2:40 pm , we are all alright. It had a wave size of about 3ft, there was no damage at the La Cruz marina.
So we thought.
The Tsunami serious surge lasted until 6:00pm somewhere around 5:30 the dock (dock 11) at the harbor entrance was washed away, the dock workers had quite a job trying to contain all the debris so it did not exit the harbor on the next out flow. The surges continued for another couple of hours, and the harbor at La Cruz was closed for the night, all the boats that went to sea for the event had to wait until morning to return to the harbor.
We stayed at our slip and had no problems on Defiant, we are all well.
It is Monday morning at the marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, MX I,m sitting by the ocean waiting for the sun to come up, Diana is still sleeping, this is part of my getting up far to early. The weather is nice this time of day, before it gets hot. This marina a is very popular with tourists and we feel a bit on display, oh well it is a small hard ship to put up with for this paradise.(pictures to follow). The sail here was good we are getting better at sailing and doing longer stretches of pure sailing mostly late afternoon until morning, during the day its mostly motorsail. It took two days to get here as e sailed outside the islands. It is a little rougher water but better wind. We left 08:30am and arrived 51hrs later to better weather nicer town but much busier marina.
This is as far south as we will go this season, our next stop now on the agenda is at La Paz for the summer (hurricane season). We hope to explore the sea of Cortez before heading farther south next cruising season
Our sailboat worked flawlessly on this passage, the work done at Mazatlan has paid off so far, but more to be done, more on repairs/upgrades later, we saw the usual dolphins, whale blows and some distant sightings and lots of birds. The new fish we saw was a Marlin it jumped three times beside the boat on its way by, afterwords Diana and I were talking about it and decided it was a good thing we were not fishing because with my luck I would have caught it and then what do you do with a 8 to 10 foot , very heavy Marlin onboard a sailboat that does not want to be there? So on it swan and we enjoyed
